Painted Churches of Schulenburg, Texas.
Little country churches in central Texas near Schulenburg; very unassuming exteriors, but amazingly beautiful on the interior. The Catholic parishes were started back in the mid-to-late 1800's by Czech and German immigrants; the existing church buildings date from 1895 to 1918. Not much left of the little communities of Dubina (Saints Cyril & Methodius), Ammonnsville (Saint John the Baptist), Praha (Saint Mary's), or High Hiil (Nativity of Mary, Blessed Virgin), but the churches are worth a long and lingering visit. September, 2013 - added the painted church in Shiner, Texas.Read More
